Princess Leia… with my hair properly done with my bangs pulled back.
This was my second dress. The first I just wasn’t liking, I didn’t like the fabric and I didn’t like the pattern I’d used, so I started over with a new pattern and new fabric. I’m not totally happy with the hood, it doesn’t look right on my head.
My belt! It’s my favourite part. It was cut out of leather, dyed white (I was trying to dye it first, but didn’t properly read the directions and it wasn’t working, then dad came alone, read the directions, and what do you know, it worked), with the metal pieces cut out of sheet metal.
Costume was very comfortable. The boots I got on ebay and even though they were alreay “white” – they were kind of an off white which made them look dirty in comparison to the dress, so I repainted them white white.
Very few kids sunday night recognized me – it was mostly the dads who were all like, “hey it’s princess leia!”
I got called Queen Amidala at one point on saturday – I’m used to getting “Princess Leia” when I’m wearing one of my Padme costumes, but I *never* thought I’d get Amidala when I was wearing Leia!
